Home Made: A New Way With Fruit–Grill It

Eat fruit a whole new way and invite a treasure trove of recipes into your cooking repertoire. When you grill it in a skillet or outside on the barbecue grill, you will soon enjoy peaches, pears, pineapple, and even more fruits with some entirely new and tempting tastes.

Grilled pears served over mixed greens, sprinkled with toasted almonds and some fresh mozzarella is a meal in itself. Grill your pears in a skillet lightly sprayed with cooking spray or in a grill pan on the barbecue grill.

Grilled pineapple is the perfect accompaniment to omelets or other egg dishes. It tastes wonderful when served as a side dish with ham or pork chops. Follow the grilling instructions used for the pears and heat this previously chilled fruit.

Grilled apples make an excellent dessert or snack. Grill sliced apples slowly with some butter instead of cooking spray. Once the butter and apples start forming a thick liquid, toss in some raisins and walnuts or almonds. Continue cooking until apples are tender and serve alone or over ice cream or frozen yogurt.

Grilled peaches are divine when served beside cottage cheese or on top of vanilla yogurt. Cook them with either butter or cooking spray but be very careful not to overcook them. You don’t want them to become mushy.

Grilled bananas are an amazing dessert. This delectable sweet treat is great on its own or over ice cream or vanilla pudding. Grill in butter and toss in a bit of brown sugar until thick and warm. A splash of sweet rum can turn this fruit into a gourmet dessert. Spoon the reduced rum and brown sugar over ice cream for a rich treat.

You’ll never look at your various fruits the same again. Every time you pick one out at your grocery store’s produce section, you’ll be wondering whether to eat it raw or grill it.
